Goody Monday: win some Swiggies!
August 30, 2010 in Competitions by CAZ
We’re giving away two sets of Swiggies: ingenious, environmentally-friendly, lightweight water bottles that are worn on the wrist.
It is the first totally hands-free bottle, contoured to strap onto your wrist and comfortable to wear over clothing.
Swiggies kindly gave us a set to review. We’ve worn them running and can vouch for the fact that they really don’t hinder your performance in any way, and are a great way to take water on board. You can also use them for a great number of other purposes, including horse-riding and cycling.
Each cleverly designed Swiggies holds 200ml (150ml for children) of water or drink of your choice. You can find out more information, and buy a set on the Swiggies website.
For your chance to win, please sign up to family vie and leave a comment below giving your tips for fitting in exercise around your family.

Goody Monday: Win tickets to The Baby Show
Haha! Can’t remember the last time I was able to do any exercise on my own! I try to find things that both myself and my daughter enjoy doing together like long walks, swimming or playing ball games in the park.
I fit exercise round my family by walking them to their activities, carrying the baby on my back! Does that count? Means we cover a lot of miles on foot in the course of a week.
Walking or riding my bike to take my son to football training & matches, and hitting the free weights whenever the kids make me feel all GRRR (normally because they are fighting)
You literally have to seize the moment and ‘make’ an exercise routine out of whatever you happen to be doing for them. Walking to events is the most obvious but try using weights in your spare hand whilst vacuuming and oooh that ironing board is great for press ups (handle with caution!)
take them out for a walk or a pram jog
We always seem so busy so try to walk wherever we can, planty of trampolining. Games of rounders on summer days and energy burning on the wii on rainy days!
I try and include my son in exercise rather than fitting it in around him. We try and walk rather than use the car and play games outside. On rainy days a trip to a soft play centre is a really good workout for adults and children,
I love the idea of these, I walk every where I can, which I enjoy.
I find taking my 3 year old daughter out on her bike good exercise, as when she tires I have to carry it all the way home!
We don’t have a car so we all walk alot. My kids walk everywhere, we walk to the shops and carry our shopping home. We love using our wii fit together, the kids see it as games, i see it as exercise, so we all win.
They look like a great idea
We do not own a car so have to either walk, cycle, or take a bus should we need to go anywhere. This is great exercise for us all. The children and I walk to and from school and cycle or walk to the library most weekends (4 mile round trip). We also go swimming as a family once a fortnight and walk to church on Sunday (2 mile round trip). I try and use the free exercise equipment on the local rec ground when my youngest is at Nursery in the mornings. She is almost 4 so will be getting a new 2 wheeled bicycle for her birthday along with a new helmet. The children are not bothered that we don’t own a car and like getting out and about in the fresh air. We have good waterproofs for the winter too LOL
house work to music is goos exercise
We love to walk around the local country park together.
Fitness games on the Wii are good, you can get it turned on and get going within minutes – much easier than trying to find time to go to the gym or out for a jog.
Im a bit limited with a new born, so I now go for long walks with him in his pushchair.
Hubby has a mobility scooter, a great idea for him
Living near the beach, we find that a game of frisbee ( with the dog) or a swingball is fun and energetic too
wii fit with the kids is brilliant exercise and fun
My way is when my eldest goes to school I go running whilst pushing my youngest in the buggy. He loves it!
doing youtube exercise videos before anyone else is up – my favourite is a ten minute bellydance workout
We like to wii fit it at the weekend. Other than that gardening or cleaning tends to keep us fit.
walk as much as possible
Walk the school run if you can. Especially good if you’re pushing your younger one in a pushchair.
I park my car about 5/10 mins walk from work everyday and the other side of the car park when i go shopping (although this is as much to do with my parking ability as exercise) it doesn’t sound a lot but those 10 mins every day soon add up!
Get up early before the kids have woken up and go for a run.
Get digging in the garden, play Footie in the park and on rainy days go puddle splashing. Take the dog out and walk to school. There are so many activities to do that don’t really feel like exercise and are great fun too.
if you have a dog try and fit in some good family walks letting the kids choose where you go fun exercise for everyone
I ensure i spend three times a week at the gym and my mum has the kids so that i make time do do this. It has really helped me de-stress. I also get to listen to new tunes that i put on my ipod, so look forward to listening to my music too!!
I use the Wii fit when the children are in bed, or we play games as a family. A great way for everyone to keep fit on those rainy days. I also plan on joining the local Pushy Mothers group when my baby is born (due in October) so I get to include the baby in my fitness routine too.
This would be great for us, with all those walks in the park!
I involve them in all that I do. Walking the dogs, walking to school/work, working in the garden and visiting the gym, whilst they go swimming!
great
I don’t drive so have to walk everywhere. Great exercise!!
get an energetic dog and an extendable lead – let her pull you around instead of jogging on your own!!
Get the kids in on the exercise, football in the park, walking through the woods, walking to school, trampolining, plus if you have a dog then you all get exercise and fresh air all year round
taking the children for a walk to the park and letting them play then walking back as a family gives everyone excercise and they do not realise they are keeping fit and healthy
I find it so hard to fit in exercise. When there is time free, I quite often just feel like sitting down!
However, for me, when I do have a free moment accompanied with a burst of energy, I tend to use the Wii Fit. Daughter, loves copying the moves and picks exercises for me to do.
The best way is to incorporate it into every day routines. We walk to school rain or shine!
Rather than join a gym (even if it has a creche) or spend time outside exercising, I bought an exercise machine off Ebay and can exercise at home when my child is having a nap or even just watching a DVD for half an hour. When looking for my exercise machine, there was lots available on Ebay; it appears that many people buy them with good intentions only to find they are gathering dust only a few months later. As a result, I bought an excellent treadmill for less than a third of its original price.
I have kids age 6 & 10, so I like to spend most of my free time with them. My exercise consequently involves walks (in the park & nature trails etc), bike rides, playing in the garden with a ball or on the trampoline and on wet days, playing on the wii. This means I get the best of both worlds – a happy AND health family
I g o for very long walks with my children, which is good exercise i can do with them around
walking is the easiest thing to fit in.
