About

July 2010: Family vie is an exciting new social destination for parents and families that gives people the opportunity to post, vote on and discuss information and articles about every aspect of family life.

Family vie is what is known as a ‘social bookmarking’ site. Parents can access a stream of content that has been rated by other parents, so they can find genuinely useful information quickly and easily.

They can also comment on and share articles with their connections to create a supportive community of people who are all in the same boat.

Here are five simple steps to get the most out of family vie:

1. Sign up (you can login via Twitter or Facebook if you prefer)
2. Submit a story to the relevant category
3. Vote and comment on other stories that you find interesting
4. Add friends to your network so that you can share articles you find interesting
5. Come back often – active community members get prominent promotion!

If you have specific questions about how to use family vie, then please look at our FAQs. Feel free to contact us with any questions, we’d love to hear from you.

We hope you enjoy using family vie

About Caroline John – founder and editor

I have a background in new media and after many years of working on large consumer sites, I was keen to put my experience to good use and start my own venture.

When I was pregnant with my first baby, like so many other people, I turned to the internet for information about everything from how my baby was developing to what to call him.

This continued after the baby was born, with the internet a source of information for a myriad of subjects: eczema, cradle cap – I even turned to YouTube for breastfeeding pointers!

I was literally overwhelmed with the amount of information out there, and struggled to work out what was genuinely useful and what was best to ignore – especially when it came to medical issues.

I used social bookmarking sites like Digg and Stumbleupon, but I found that their broad remit meant that it was difficult to pinpoint information that was relevant to my needs.

After my second baby was born, I decided it was an ideal time to launch my own venture that tackled this issue, and family vie was the result.
